We spent the weekend joining the Impact Trip Canang Sari Making Class and the Melukat ceremony at Tirta Empul. It was a very interesting and meaningful experience, a real chance to learn about Balinese culture. Everything was well organized from start to finish, and the team guided us clearly through each part of the experience. We also enjoyed meeting other nomads who are just as interested in local culture as we are. Overall it was a wonderful and memorable day! I had an amazing time at the kite-making experience. It was truly special to make a kite alongside a Balinese family with decades of experience. The whole process was so authentic and meaningful. These guys really do amazing work and put on beautifully curated events. I always feel that any events and trips I attend will be helping to contribute to local causes and communities which is so important. I had an amazing experience with Made and Mr. Mardika. I met them for a fire ceremony and meditation in Kelusa village, called Homa Yadnya in balinese culture. The priest, Mr Mardika, hold the ceremony and shared many insights from his culture. Made accompanied me throughout the ceremony and translated as we went along. So glad Nomads Giving Back exists, to give us a way to connect with others who want to be givers and not takers. What a great community to hang out with! My initial goal was to meet new people (both locals and foreigners), and do activities together, so I started attending their Cultural Game Nights in Canggu, which are always a lot of fun. As adults, we sometimes take ourselves too seriously and forget to be playful, so those evenings are a great way of bringing back the fun after a busy week! I’ve also joined one of their Impact Trips. I wanted to learn more about Bali’s culture and traditions, and travel a little off the beaten paths, where no traditional tour agency or guide would ever take me. I was lucky to share meaningful moments with a local family who taught me how to craft Balinese offerings in a remote village. I really loved the concept of traveling beyond the sole purpose of visiting places, and of giving part of the proceeds to a family in need. I find any experience so much more valuable when it has meaning and purpose! And if that weren't enough, I’ve also attended one of their online Masterminds, which was a great way for me to connect with fellow digital nomads/entrepreneurs and get support and feedback on my work. Nomads Giving Back offers connections and experiences across the board, from tourism, to entertainment, to entrepreneurship. And to top it all off, the team members are super friendly, fun, and kind.
